okay so i read all the answers and they pretty much helped a lot thanks =) but since you guys said its diff. for each state.. anybody know how strict VA is about it? i know VA can be majorlly gay at stupid stuff like this.. oh and how much does it usually cost to get it done?? grr i shoulda asked these in the begining oh well.. hopefully all of you look back to this question

well i haven't got my belly pierced but my friend just did. and she's fifteen x.x . the legal age of belly piercing and without parents consent is 16! and ah well, it all depends on your belly's threshold for pain, a friend of mine said it hurts badly and you can't even toss and turn on the bed for 3 months while another friend said it only hurts a little more than ear piercing (not sure if she's acting tough though) but more people said it hurts.
well you should'nt let anything like a little pain to deter you from getting pretty belly piercings, and remember the hole only stays for a few years!

It depends on the state laws and the rules set by the shop.
I know some areas allow 16 year olds to get some piercing without permission, but the shops can still refuse to pierce you.
Look on Google for shops in your area and give them a call asking about the rules. Its the best way to find out and while you've got them on the phone, you can ask them other questions, such as how clean and professional they are and costs and concerns you might have.

It depends. Here in California the age is 18. However, I got mine pierced when I was 16 because the people at the piercing parlor didn't care. Now they've tightened up on the laws a bit so they probably wouldn't let that happen now. And for the pain, I also have my nose pierced and the belly button hurt more for me.

It depends on where you go. Some places require an adult's permission while others will allow 16 year olds. I got mine when I was 17 so I wouldn't know for sure. And if you go to the right place it won't hurt, you'll just get this adrenaline rush and feel dizzy for a minute or so, have a sugary drink near by, it helps.

Actually, it usually depends on what state you're in. In Indiana, you have to be 18. So we used to drive to Kentucky, because it's 16 there.
It doesn't hurt that bad. I have ears, navel, nipples and tongue. Tongue was definitely the worst, by far. Your belly button won't be that bad. You might get dizzy though. Just get up slowly when they're done.

i just got it done on thursday it does
not hurt at all! but make sure the person
does it with a needle not a gun! if he/she
uses a gun RUN because a gun has a million
other peoples skin on it! umm i am fifteen but
i told the man that i was 16 all i did was take
my older brother who is 18 & they did it really
depends on the person who is doing it & how
cool they are! it does not hurt at all :]
