I became unemployed last year and found things that I had previously been paying off mounted up over time. I am now working and want to pay back what I can and stop the pressure of having debts. I was considering an IVA as paying everything individually will be almost impossible for me. I have been reading questions that other people have asked on here and just wanted to hear from people who have had a positive experience with an IVA practitioner.

my boyfriend went with iva and i think he used blair endersbys.
he hasnt had any problems apart from our joint bank account.
he isnt allowed a normal bank account, no overdraft, cant take out a loans. if he inherits any money he has to declare it.
We had a joint bank account for all the household bills and the rent and as he had to come off it and bank account closed down. thats the only problem we had as i was still on it and they still closed it. apart fromt that he is better off as he has more money and only paying one chunk a month for it.

my mum took one and she is paying a fixed amount of less than a third of what she used to pay just to meet min payments, and in 5 years its all paid and the rest of the debts are wiped.
It will make it hard to get credit for thoose 5 years, but to be honest thats proberly a good thing.

i usedto have my own business, when the bank took it to the wall it took us with it. I went bankrupt, the other director tried to keep his head above waterfor a year then he went IVA.
his seemed fine, i think he used a company called Shaws, who are a subsidary of the administrators we used for the company. they were helpful, sympathetic and put together a deal to finish it off early after his house value went up enough to allow him to remortgage and make an offer.
