...and I don't mean escaping bugs. Heard on Radio 4's AM this morning that if doctors, nurses etc. are vexed about their workplace, and how management deal with situations therein, they are terrified to inform the press, and thus will suffer in silence...but those who do will make great pains to make sure their names are not to be mentioned...on account of what will happen to them. It's bad enough with some patients kicking off at A&E clinics, with nurses' tolerance second to none...but undercurrents of intimidation from the top draw must be murder - especially for the ones who can see their clinics on the downslide day after day.

That is scary, Rab...but remember Manchester Royal Infirmary some time ago - stones' throw from Moss Side with most victims of shootings ending up there, with the police stalking behind wheelchairs like eager dogs - and behind them; the dears who were waving their guns around, determined to finish their job off.

More harm, trust me! My wife and I both work in the NHS and presently it feels like we are working for a bunch of clueless, uncaring fools who are hell bent on paring the NHS down to the bare bone before they sell the component parts off bit by bit, to the highest bidder. And worse of all, they lie to the public about what they are up to.
Don't be fooled into thinking the latest idea of Foundation Trusts are good. It involves local businessmen (and possible local Gangsters) being on the Trust Board and sponsering aspects of the NHS in their area, are they going to keep the bits that don't make a profit such as long term care of the elderly and infirm? Should the NHS be even about making a profit?
Trust me Patricia Hewitt and Tony Blair are little more than untrustworthy sales reps or estate agents were the NHS is concerned, they are KILLING IT PEOPLE and it's not theirs it's ours!

p.s. I feel like I am taking a big risk saying this too even though it is the truth. So Radio 4 hit it on the button as they so often do. Radio 4 news should be compulsory listening!

I would be Scared stiff if I had to work in Glasgow Royal Infirmary - is this the only Hospital in the UK with a 24 hour police presence - and they are not there for chatting up the Nurses..its because it is the worst A & E in the World .(outside of Baghdad) constant .Stabbings - Shootings Spousal disputes....Junkies OD' ing... - but the thing that causes the most riots in the Royal - is - the length of time you have to wait to be seen by a Doctor

I work for the NHS and the constant bad press is what gets to us. We work hard for patients but the managers want us to focus on the paperwork!

NHS nursing assistants more times than not work understaffed which does a lot of harm to both staff &patients but they get away with it.
