war is a necessary evil today. whats your take on that quote? No bias answers please. I only want the opinions of those who are neutral and open-minded about this because i know fo a fact there are two sides to this. and nothing about wars that happened hundreds of years ago. focusing more on the world today. Do you believe that sometimes war does have its advantages and that at times, it is indeed necessary.

in reply to someone who asked why i am asking for non-biased answers when my question is biased, it is because im lookin for more answers including advantages of war which is why im making it more obvious. if i dont mention that, everyones answer will just be about how they hate war and about the disadvantages. I want full-length answers with details not just a small sentence as an answer..

Every answer is going to have a bias!
sometimes war is a necessary last resort but that does not mean it has "advantages" (besides it it easier to fight that to think)

A simple lesson I like to do to motivate students to learn about the advantages and disadvantages the North and the South had during the Civil War is to play a simple card game "WAR!"
During the start of my Civil War Unit, I separate the class into "north" and "south."
Sometime during the Unit, I will have the North compete against the South to play war.
Basically one student from the south represents one soldier. However, because of the population differences between the two regions (22 million for the north, 9 million for the south), one student from the north equals three soldiers.
A student from the north and the south come up to a neutral table and draw the top card from the deck. Whoever draws the larger card stays in and the other soldier is defeated. Again, if the student from the south loses, s/he must sit down and be silent. If the north student loses, he sits down, but still has two turns left.
Going through the game, students should realize (unless by some improbable luck) that the South has virtually no way of winning the game. Now students can conceptualize how the population of the north was a tremendous advantage during the Civil War.

War is the birth place or the proving ground for most modern inventions and things we now take for granted.
You can name just about anything and something in it was birthed in the forge of war or conflict. the original applications were to help fight/win wars but soon it would grow in to civilian use.
Plastics, computers, jet engines, modern medicines, nylon, advanced electronics, light weight polymers and food preservation techniques. all of these things and more, were primarily created for military applications, specifically to fill a need in War. Improvements happened all the time to these items as well, by the end of ww2 modern medicine had made leaps and bounds in progress, the jet engine had been born at the start of the war and by the end it was far more advanced than any engine had been in nearly 20 years.
People look at the Human cost of war, which is important, but if you look deeper, look under the surface you will find that War has been a much a boon to the modern world as it has been it's Nemesis.
Yes there are plenty of advancements that were not war related, but at some point in history it was thrown in to the fire and when it was pulled out, it probably came out better.
What is war good for?
Human advancement.

Some advantages of war would have to be:
helps keep the world population in check,
creates full employment during and after the fighting,
actually advances civilisation with inventions,
rids the world of a few more tyrants and despots (as long as the good guys win),
gives the chance to rebuild cities to how they should have been in the first place.
Main disadvantage would be the loss of innocent lives.

There are no advantages to war. It cost money that could be spent in a lot of more necessary ways, It cost the lives of our dhildren(yes children) ,the average age of the people fighting is 18 to 21 years old. Not to mention the emotional scars it leaves on everyone for the rest of their lives.

Do you realize most of your wording is biased? Why are you asking for non-biased answers when your own question is biased?
Advantage: Financial gain, political control, wag the dog, global intimidation, establishing dominance.
Disadvantage: loss of lives, unbelievable emotional pain, social ruin
Please tell me.....when was the last FAIR war?

Advantages: Economic growth from production of war supplies and transportation of them along with the rebuilding of what is destroyed. Ridding the planet of evil tyrants and freeing the suppressed masses of people. Guaranteeing security and freedom for the victor's countrymen.
Disadvantages: Good humans die.
