Following northern European convention, Australians claim four seasons of three months' duration each. This is completely not what is observed. March and April are definitely still summer months through much of Australia as tropical cyclones can still be expected then and the sub-tropical ridge is still in its summer position. All that, of course, is totally ignored by the powers that be and autumn starts on the first of March.

Traditionally, Autumn starts on the first day of March and ends on the last day of May.
However, summer does not really end until around April.

There are three months to each season. Spring-September to November. Summer-December to February. Autumn-March to May. Winter-June to August. Hope this helps.
