RELAX he will do it all on his own time. Maybe he just wants to be a baby still. If you make it a battle he will win, or try real hard at winning. Pick your battles carefully. They grow up so so fast. In a year from now you won't even remember this was a problem lol : )

Be patient - he'll do it when he's ready. 18 months is really young for potty training so he may not be ready to be fully toilet trained just yet. My 2 and a half year old will use the potty at home but not at nursery so I just take it that he is not quite ready yet and will try again next week or the week after or however long it takes him until he is happy about it. The worst thing you can do is push them too much, as you'll find instead of progressing forwards they go backwards!
Good luck :)

Ask the staff at the daycare centre they will give you tips like putting him on the potty 15 minutes after he has had a drink and 30 minutes after eating they do this kind of thing on a regular basis they would know some kind of a routine as a helping hand to get potty training established at home

I had this with my daughter as well. I got her a reward chart with stickers for each time she peed in her potty. My expectations of this were low but to my amazement it worked wonders!
At end of the week we bought her a small toy or a comic, and she got to chose what stickers we were going to use for the next week.
He might not be quite ready yet, 18months is young, but I'd say that if he can do it at daycare then persevere at home and you'll get there. Good Luck!

everyone has their own special way of potty training, in my experience i went straight to the toilet. only because my son refused to go on the potty (cheeky monkey) but i bought a child's seat that goes on the toilet. and a step, and gave him plenty of praise (i just hope the neighbours never heard) i feel that its getting your little one trained quicker without having to train from the potty onto the toilet, but you will know what your little treasure will like More so good luck with it all and get yourself a good carpet cleaner ha ha x

Try putting a Cheerio in the toilet let him try to 'aim' for it. Let him accompany you when you go eventually he'll get the idea. There are a lot of different methods, a good website is Parent.com. they have good message board and good articles on potty training.

It's how YOU approach potty training that brings fast results. I potty trained my child in less than a week with this method http://pottytraining.toptips.org

Have you tried one of those little seats that fit on top of yours? Also try a step so he can stand up and do it. The toilets at daycare are a lot smaller! It may be that. Also do not give him a nappy, if he hasn't got the nappy to fall back on maybe he will go.

I found a potty that played a tune when the did something was a good incentive. Til one bright child learnt to tip their juice in there for the same result!
