run of paper (ROP)
Newspaper publisher's option to place advertisements anywhere in the newspaper that space allows, at the sole discretion of the publisher. If an advertiser requests a preferred position within a newspaper, most publishers will try to place the advertisement in the requested position if possible.

In broadcast, this same option is called run of schedule or run of station, the former allowing a television station to position commercials anywhere in the schedule that it is convenient, and the latter allowing a radio station to do the same. Run-of-schedule and run-of-station commercial positions are charged at the lowest rate on the rate card.
