Yes, way better than the best part of all drugs combined. Because it is the quenching of a desperate thirst, the satisfying of a mighty hunger.
Being touched by the Holy Spirit is awesome. The bible tells us that if you've truly accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord & Savior, you can ask Him for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Imagine, walking out your whole life in the Holy Spirit. The outpouring of Gods love, grace, ecstacy, etc. Yes, the Holy Spirit does ease up a bit, so you can hold down a job, buy food, clean your home, and generally be responsible, but you'll never touch the ground again (unless you insist that it's a temporary thing, or something imaginary, or simply don't keep your heart close to God's). Being one with God is more than a feeling, the physical feeling is minor compaired to the reality of God being with you. The scientific method requires that you use your senses to prove the existance of something. Wow, that's proof enough for me. So don't let anyone push you away form the Holy Spirit by making you feel guilty that you have a physical "feeling". Keep pursuing Gods heart.
Try http://www.biblegateway.com/ and search "Holy Spirit" for guidance. It's not just for bible times. At some churches today, the presence of God through His Holy Spirit is so thick you can feel it when you walk in the door, and miracles happen too.

I'm afraid you have not received the Holy Spirit
In the new testament people who received the Holy Spirit were identified by others. this identification is "speaking in other tongues".
on the day of Pentecost 120 disciples all received the holy spirit and began to speak in other tongues (Acts 2:1-4)
other passages in the bible:
Acts 10:44-46 "....the Holy Ghost fell on them...... for they heard them speak with tongues....."
Acts 19:6 "....the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues...."
nowhere in the bible did people receive the holy spirit and had a physical experience
nowhere in the bible did people receive by signing a confession card
nowhere in the bible did people receive by saying the sinners prayer
I don't deny that you may have been touched by the lord, but that doesn't mean you have received the Holy Spirit
if you want to receive the Holy Spirit, then you need to ask god, you need to ask and keep on asking by praying to him, and then when he fills you with the holy spirit, you too will speak in other tongues
it has happened to me and everyone I know who has diligently asked the lord, they have all spoken in tongues.
don't believe people who come to you with their own unscriptural ideas; there is only one way to be saved.
you must repent be baptized and you will receive the holy spirit (Acts 2:38) with the BIBLE evidence of speaking in tongues.
you don't need to understand why or how the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues works, you just need to obey the lord and do it, all the whys and hows will be answered once you have received.
I really do hope you receive
God Bless

Yes. Those experiences happen all the time, and they are from God. I know he is there and wants us to feel his love and his spirit. You should keep looking for ways to feel the spirit. It can last longer, and be a more common part of your life than just something that happened for a few seconds a year ago. Though even those few seconds can have a profound impact on you if you let them. For me, I find them when I'm actively searching and also when I'm doing what's right. They help me feel peace and know what is true out there. Let alone the fact that they really, really help me enjoy life.

This answer is completely honest. I'm not talking about getting high on any kind of mind altering drug. When I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior and knew in my mind that this was the real thing this time and not as when I was a 5 year old boy and doing what everyone expected of me, I had such a wonderful, peaceful feeling come over me and it still happens today at times when I stop and try my best to understand what God's Holy Spirit is telling me. At times it's almost scary to know that God is communicating with me as an individual. Telling me what I should do if I want to do the right and proper thing in my life. I ask myself all the time, WWJD? For those who don't understand, that means "What would Jesus do?" We are instructed to do as He did and live our life as He did. Jesus was sinless during His time here on earth. Something that is impossible for us and He understands that. We don't posses His resolve. We are sinners and that's why He did what He did. God Bless.

Yes, it has actually happened to me about twice.
The first time during was during a retreat prayer time. There were only about 6 guys there, but we were all praying. Then suddenly, one of the counselors came over to me and asked if he could pray for me. I said yes and the moment he touched my shoulder, I felt this great uplifting feeling. Like all my worries and pains were carried far away. It was so great and spiritual that I started crying and couldn't stop. Then, this was the really cool part, my counselor who was praying with me felt the Holy Spirit too and began using his gift of tongues and praying in a different language. It was one of the best experiences ever. In fact it was so enlightening, my counselor decided to quit his teaching job and be a full time Religious Educator, so he could help people like me. It was amazing.
The Holy Spirit works in many ways. Sometimes in profound ways like your experience, and sometimes in just getting lucky. But in order to see it, you must keep your eyes, mind, and soul open to it. I hope that you continue to experience great things through God and the Hoyl Spirit. Peace be with you.

Yes, I have had such emotional experiences many times... and they were amazing!
However, as a wise spiritual leader once told me after I had my 1st such experience back in 1979: "Keep walking..." We who are past drug users and all of us as idolaters [those who naturally seek something to comfort and help us other than God] are prone to fixate on a feeling or an emotional experience instead of God, Himself who gave us emotions, and most importantly: FAITH.
Remember Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. [KJV] or the Message Bible paraphrase says it this way: "The fundamental fact of existence is that this trust in God, this faith, is the firm foundation under everything that makes life worth living. It's our handle on what we can't see."
Faith is a spirit thing. Emotion is a soul thing. Focus on God, surrender to Him and learn about living from your spirit [that "flow" that comes from tuning into God and letting thoughts and images come] as Paul so frequently exhorts in Romans and describes as "walking in the Spirit". Sounds like you are on the right track though, your experience seems very much like it COULD be that very sort of Spirit-led form of flow of thinking leading to what SOMETIMES will be an emotional experience.
My view is: Seek God, not just experiences...
Peace and Rest in Him, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus the Christ from Nazareth! :o)
"have the right frame of mind. It's healthy and okay to expect that maybe God will move in powerful, emotional ways. Sometimes He does. But when we set up that emotional experience as the benchmark for a "Great Encounter" with God, we will be disappointed. And God hasn't promised that we'll always have these feelings of euphoria or glee. We need to see God as He is, rather than who we want Him to be-and that means not trying to call Him on a promise He hasn't made."

Sounds like it, usually you always feel warm and happy in your chest, heart. The Holy Spirit can last seconds, minutes, even hours, once I felt it all day long on a Sunday, before Church, during and after.

I have. My friend who is a complete aithiest and anti-god kind of person was staying over, and I was getting mad with her for dissing him. I wasn't completely sure about my faith, and had been waiting for months to recieve a sign. The next morning when I woke up, there was this floating sparkling light above my bed, that didn't hurt my eyes to look at. It was completely serene and peaceful, and I had never felt so safe, so much love or peace. It lasted a few seconds, and thats when I realised it was all true. I have a fear of angels and visions, but when I actually saw something it was beautiful, and not scary in the slightest.
I repented and became a christian, the same day.
