you cannot cover a solid black tattoo with color. the only thing you can cover black with is more black. you could go around it with more color, but not inside of it.

a friend of mine covered his with a picture of his dog. You can still see through it but the tattoo artist was good enough to blend in the black to make it look like shadows. If you knew what it was you can still see some of it but other than that the artist did a real good job. So find something that maybe you can put some real detailed shadows in.

unless it is extremely faded, no you can't. sorry. that's the reason i urge people not to get solid black tattoos (i had one and had to have it covered with a large rock) do you have any other ideas for what you may want? if you take those ideas to a good tattoo artist they may be able to help you out.

I had a black Chinese symbol and was told by several tattoo artists that all I can do is cover it with more black, that's fine though, I don't mind more black.

you can cover a black tattoo with colour. i had one on my lower back which was old english writing and about an inch & a half big. it's now 3 lovely dark pink roses! shading over the writing is darker, but the way its shaded, it's just fantastic!

ash, go to www.tattooartists.org look down the right side and click on tattoo themes, then click on cover ups......There are over 350 cover-up and touch-ups shown......You might even find a shop near to you on the list. I know what its like to have tattoo you don't like, (I'm getting one covered next month in an 8 to 9 hour session).

good luck on yours
