i fell in love with a japanese guy and i'm trying to learn the language myself so we could understand each other better. is it possible for us to have a relationship like this?

i'm still 20 so perhaps i can have lots of time to learn the language right? and he can't speak english that much so i guess i should just learn his language instead

Yes its possible! cos i do, my boyfriend was a japanese, he understand a little english but still he want me to study nihonggo for us to understand each other well,,At first, everytime he went here what i use to do to show my feelings to him was by way of action and drawing ! its funny but our relationship grow and because you guys doesnt understand each other well,you girl need to become more understanding ,patient and caring by action or be diff.among the girls not by being wierd but being elegant and simple and the one who really need a real love from him not really about materially..
There are some japanese dictionary that translate in diff.language,,you can also use that as part of learning,try to connect the words you want to say even its a wrong grammar,im sure he can still get what you are talking about..
But still miscommunication or misunderstanding can let youre relationship lost,you can work on that if you really love him but also he has to work on too.for you guys to enjoy youre relationship..I hope you will last..Goddluck and God Bless

Very possible, and a good relationship too. Also encourage him to also learn some more English as well, that way you can learn some Japanese from him and he can learn some English from you. I was in the same situation in April last year when i moved to Mozambique, they speak portuguese here and I hooked up with this girl and I have learnt ''hell lot from her'' including portuguese n what makes the relationship stronger is we coming from different backgrounds (language and culture) so we dont take each other for granted, her English has improved as well

Of course it is Jas. honey. Don't give up! When I was younger I had such the hots for Japanese men. I would have learned the language if I had found one. But, alas, none came my way.
But, that doesn't mean you can't try. And of course it is possible for you to have a relationship like this! The language of Love has no verbal language barriers sweetie. Don't give up!

Sure I have been speaking to a girl from China for over a year and she speaks no english and I speak no chinese. Thank God for computer translators. But cultural differences maybe more a problem than language

Yes it is possible. Maybe it can work better. And if it doesn't ... at least you'll know a foreign language :) . Anyway you'll have something to win. Better than wondering later " what if ... ".
How old are you? Does he speaks English at all ?

yes anything is possible. use the internet to help in learning the language and if need be have the guy help you. it would be fun to learn something different if you really have a desire to want to learn.
