You're not alone! Many people have acne that doesn't clear with over the counter products like ProActive and Clearasil. I would recommend going to your family doctor; he or she can prescribe oral or topical antibiotics for your acne. Additionally, you may be a candidate for topical retin-A--or in very severe cases, Accutaine. At any rate, there is hope for you!

If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symptoms and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.
Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:

Pimples usually occur on oily skin and they keep recurring. Though you have not mentioned about your skin type, I believe you have oily skin. You should be very careful about your diet and also the moisturiser/cream you use on your face. Always go for oilfree moisturiser. Shouldn't be exposed to sun.Should avoid oily, hot and spicy food, tea and coffee. Try to keep your tummy clear and cool. Drink plenty of water. Wash your face three/four times a day with cold (not chilled) water and apply cream (oil free). Apply face pack that is meant for oily skin which you can find out from a beautician. Have patience and try these remedies for some time even months. This may help you get rid of your pimples and ache to some extent.

Basically it is bacterial infection. Drug of choice is Tetracycline 250mg twice. But it has got some genetical side effect so it is not prescribed these days. I will give you 2 solutions. 1. Take any Haematinic which contains at least 30mg of Zinc. Take it twice daily for 30 days. It will take some time in cure. 2. Fast way is to take Injection of Penicillin 6 Lac after sensitivity test. Take two shots one weekly. Always wash your face with normal water not hot not cold at least 6-7 times daily. Don't apply any thing oily.

All pimples are considered "acne break-outs".
I don't know if you're doing this, but make sure you don't scrub your face too hard (and don't use a terrycloth facecloth). If you scrub it too hard or go over it more than once you can irritate the skin and cause more break-outs than you would otherwise have.

Nu Skin has a product that will help with your breakouts and will not dry your skin out at all. It is very effective on blackheads, red skin, and there aren’t any shiny effects.
It's awesome! I am on hormone pills, so my skin changes all the time and I still never have a problem.
