kept on the computer, finally went to bed and about 1.30am heard a car start up so i looked out the window and noticed a big white van reversed in my drive way, i rang my husband in America, (im in Australia) he told me to ring the police, i finally did after i couldn't stop my body from shaking, I felt totally embarrassed, i didn't want to be a bother to them, the police were great, they checked around the house and the guy had broken into my back shed but it was empty, My question is should i have felt embarrassed?

Oh my! Did you check under the bed and look in the closets for monsters? Perhaps you had better get a really big gun and shoot indiscriminently out your windows. Embarassed, no. Silly, yes.

No reason to be embarrassed. That is what the police do. What your body was doing is totally natural. It is called fight or flight response syndrome. The shaking is your bodies way of dealing with the overload of adrenaline. Different people react in different ways, Laughing, crying, shakes, etc. It is completely involuntary, you can't control it. Just be thankful they broke into an empty shed instead of your house!!!

Never ever feel embarrassed about contacting the police, if you feel it's a valid complaint, then it's valid to you until you know otherwise. Sometimes, it takes the police to find out if you need ot be concerned or not. Let them sort it out, while you remain safe, that's what we're for.

Of course not. Its much better to be safe. If you hadn't called t have them check things out for you, yu would have worried all night and probobly still be worried. Besides you pay taxes for their services and they are there to protect you. They also want to make sure you are safe.

No you shouldn't be embarrased. In fact you were a victim of a crime and they understand that you're nervous about it. What they did put your mind at ease and that's all part of the job.
