Whenever I read whatever Jesus told, It was all so nice and difficult to follow. The same way how the people who love us gives us advise, and how rudely we act to them by ignoring the true fact. Thats why Jesus always told that whatever He told is the truth, so that one or the other day you will realize that All He said was plain truth. So simply pay head to whatever He says and try to follow and you wont regret that you did. Guaranteed!

A lot of people did think that He was a liar:
"And there was much murmuring among the crowd concerning Him, for some said, 'He is a good man;' others said, 'No, but he deceives the crowd.'" - John 7: 12
Even today, many people think He is a liar. Still, there is another kind of person, one who just listens but does not accept.
"For a time will be when they will not endure sound doctrine, but they will heap up teachers to themselves according to their own lusts, tickling the ear." - 2 Timothy 4: 3
Hence, the emphasis that what He says is true; as it is true, we must act upon it.

Because most people in those days love to tell lies and suspect almost all things. That is why Christ had to make emphasis on His Words, but still they didn'nt believe. In reality, all His Words have been recorded as eternal truth.

Jesus, at times, had to use cautious language around specific individuals so as to "get by" without being stoned to death so that he, the "Messiah" could get "his message" The Gospel, (The Good News)out to the people before being crucified.

You are the one telling the lie. If you knew Jesus like I know Jesus you would not be making such a insulting comment.

It was a style of the times. There had been too many con-men that had preceded Him. Consequently people would speak that phrase, as a way of saying, this isn't my opinion, that's a fact jack. Like, totally, fer sure, it's, like, soo true.

Verily, verily, I say unto you... Jesus Christ was a man of his time and lived, dressed, worked, celebrated, and spoke just as "hip" as everyone else did so as to be understood by those to whom he spoke.
I dread to think his visit on Earth now would have him talking to us about "chiesal my-neisal"... but it's a thought.
Good Question.

It wouldn't matter to you if ten thousand people answered, you wouldn't award a correct answer anyway.
It's called Literary writing.
