It depends on the guy - some enjoy chasing the girl - it makes you more desirable toward him if you are "forbidden", or unavailable, so he'll try harder to get you.Other guys feel out of your league, or dont have the self confidence to make a move, even if they do like you.

IT'S ONE THING TO PLAY HARD TO GET , AND ANOTHER THING TO BE STUPID. Remember that could back fire. Don't play to hard you may snoze and lose. I believe if you like a person you let them know. See I believe if a women saw me and like what she saw and let me get away without trying to get to know me or show some kind of a sign .Then this world could be a lonely place. No - not at all.
They are scared of "desparate" though, and hard-to-get is a way of not seeming desparate.
What guys really like is interestED and interestING - spending time with you has to be worthwhile in that I might get something out of it relationship-wise, and I am getting something out of it right now in terms of you being enjoyable company.

I really like women to be hard to get, cause the moment i'm alone with them, i don't take NO for an answer. Once they get a piece of me, they always come back for more.

Not really. Guys are dumb, but not that dumb. We won't fight a fight we don't think we can win. You just may lose a guy for good like that.

cheap and easy is preferable. knowing how to sweat em and be cheap and easy is to master the male gender.
