"Men marry women hoping they'll never change and they always do; women marry men hoping they'll change them and they never do!"

Well, all I know is: All the women I ever dated wanted me right up until they found out that I wasn't going to 'become' a butterfly; then, a caterpillar wasn't good enough for them! Funny, they liked all those busy little arms and legs before...lol

I think IN GENERAL it IS common, in my experience many women believe they can change their men although it is a very unsuccessful journey to do so, but it really depends on the relationship...

Men try and change women just as much as women try and change men. People should wait until they are older to get married so that they know themselves more and can choose a partner that they don't feel the need to overhaul. Every human has every human trait and there is a butterfly inside every caterpillar when the right person inspires it out. Everyone needs to change to some degree in order to combine two people's lives successfully. It's the 'way' it is done that will make or break it. Done with encouragement and love, people can really grow together continually pleasing each other throughout a lifetime. It's rare but I've seen it done. If there's negativity, stubbornness or demands involved, it won't work and there is no point from the get go entering into something like that unless you want a life of misery or disappointment.

Once you get married your life has to change, first you have to consider your partners needs, then children come along so you have to change your life again for their needs, then you get old and you change your life style because you are just unable to do all the things you did when you were young. Married or single your life will always have to keep changing.

I guess it is about expectations. All in all, we should marry someone with our minds firmly checked into reality. Personality rarely changes...looks do.
