Easy to say, hard to do but JUST STOP.
Don't do it at all.
Cutting down won't work.
Thinking about it won't work.
Just stop logging into forums, stop buying crap.

First, you must acknowledge that you are a bargain whore!
If you can't acknowledge that reality, then you don't have to read any further.
Then, you must REMOVE the brainwashing that has gotten you to this point of desperation and addiction.
Here are some truths you need to put on your bedroom door:
1) An awesome bargain that is non-functional or provides no utility is, in fact, a piece of junk.
2) An item is NEVER on sale if you don't need it. There is nothing worse than buying a piece of junk on "clearance" and never using it. Buying junk, even for pennies on the dollar, is still a waste of money, time, and space.
3) You don't have to SPEND MONEY in order to SAVE IT. Marketers have convinced consumers that they can spend and save simultaneously when that is furthest from the truth. An outlay of cash or credit -- is still an outlay of cash or credit. You do NOT "save" money by spending it on a purchase.
You save money by foregoing the unnecessary purchase altogether and funneling that money into a "savings account" or mutual fund. That is what SAVING means in its purest sense.
Do not mistake a "purchase discount" or a "sales discount" for "savings". It is an abuse of the word and a perversion to all that is natural.
4) If you love bargains, remember this. The best way to get a 100% discount . . . is to stay home and REFUSE to purchase merchandise! You 'save' 100% when you refuse to buy an item!
That is the best bargain around as you save money, time, and space--simultaneously!
5) Hide your credit cards from yourself. If you know you are a bargain whore, then you must make it more difficult to purchase "knick-knacks" you don't need. Hiding cards from yourself and leaving them at home makes it more difficult for you to fall prey to temptation. Though you have good intentions, you can not be trusted! You are an addict, remember?
6) When you see a "must-have", give yourself a 24-hour "cooling off" period. Chances are that the sense of urgency will subside and you will forget about that item after other "crises" arise in that 24 hour period.
7) Take all that energy you have towards buying things and reallocate it towards cleaning, reorganizing, and dejunking your life. That investment in yourself pays serious dividends.
8) Finally, you must realize that things don't define who you are -- your character does. Stop using "retail therapy" as a way of medicating what is missing or broken on the inside. When you start reinventing yourself holistically, you will easily see the fallacy of buying things to "feel good" or "define who you are"

Make a rule for yourself that you won't spend any more money on bargains until you make money selling bargains. When you sell things you can buy more bargains, but don't spend more than you have made. Postage does count. Try to bring more money in than you spend. You could even save up for something really great like a holiday. Best wishes.

where are you finding all of these great bargains? The answer to your q by the way is will power! or the much more drastic step of turning your acct over to someone you really, really, really trust and having your own funds rationed out to you. I'd go w/ will power-- did I mention you would have to really trust them?

don't look in the first place. find something else to take up your time, and save your money
if you have an addictive personality this may be more difficult than it sounds, try smoking ganja instead :P
if that doesn't help, you may even need professional help to get you out of the habit
