can anyone tell me about some helpful sites i can check out.. and try to find some information.. _personal_ i would like information on my family. .but im not sure how to do it.. without having to pay.. this ancestry.com.. i want something completely free. if possible.. HELP PLEASE

you could try going to the library, they keep back reels of newspapers on microfilm that go back years....don't know if it costs anything to use, but worth a try

Have you tried findagrave.com? That's a free site that has approximately 14 million grave records. If you search on there, you might find some information on members of your family as sometimes people go through and transcribe an entire cemetery's worth of information.

You might also want to check out sites such as rootsweb.com as well, they may have such information.

You did not provide enough information about the states or citiies or towns you are interested in . The question is just too broad. sure there are sites for obituaries. Not ONE site for all obituaries for all states for the last 225 years !

Find a local public library that subscibes to Ancestry.com and use it for free.
