My partner is to start it and he is looking forward to getting rid of it, I am worried about side effects so on. I just want him right again and am worried sick it will take him from me. Also which is the most common genetype in England?? Do you know any positive success stories, all I hear is doom and gloom.

Stephanie, you keep asking the same questions about hep c. I know I 've answered several of your questions and tried to help you and encourage you about this. Treatment is not easy but you have to prepare yourself mentally as well as physically to do it. Yes, you need to be prepared as well as your partner. Go to a support group or ask a specialist for answers. There's a lot of misinformation and negativity on the internet; don't let that negatively influence you. Get in touch with real people who have been there. A positive attitude towards treatment and recovery are essential for staying compliant and finishing treatment. Giggling willow is right; if he has genotype 2 then he has a 80% chance of having a sustained response to treatment. Be supportive and understanding and help him to stay on it. Find out what you can do to ease symptoms & side effects. Life is good and you can beat this, but you have to have a positive attitude.
Best wishes.

most common in england is genotype 2b! wow! he's got an EXCELLENT chance of getting rid of it!!!! whoooo hooooo!!!!!!
yes, I"M a positive outcome of antiviral chemo-and that is back in the day when you still did a years worth of treatment.

i can foresee him having a fairly easy treatment of only 6 months!

good luck and no, usually when you do the chemo for 6 months the side effects are pretty much just flu like symptoms the day after the shot.

make sure he drinks as close to a gallon of water a day and make sure he is already on an antidepressant (during the duration and post treatment for another 6 months!)

good luck!

MIKE RE FRIEND: your friend is not keeping his HCV "in check" with milk thistle. Milk Thistle helps the inflammation caused by hcv attacking the liver, thus in turn lowers the ALT and AST levels, but by all means, the HCV virus is still causing damage!
Your friend, if he can, needs to seriously think about treatment if he hasnt already! HCV is not just a liver disease! It can cause other organs to work harder and become diseased as well.
Milk Thistle just "prolonged" the REAL treatment as I thought the same as well about milk thistle. HCV is not something anyone should mess with!

It depends how far gone it is I have a friend who is keeping in check with Milkweed Thistle. It has gotten any worse or better. He may tryu large doses of it and maybe reverse the process. I'm almost 95% sure he got his from recreational drug use. He didn't worry about what he put in his body then now he is cautious about the large doses of milkweed thistle. Isn't it odd how we change as we get older.
