I think a shuttle kiln is the same thing as a tunnel kiln. In both cases, the kiln itself is heated to a constant temperature at all times, with the central part being the hottest. Pottery is placed at one end of the kiln and transported slowly through the kiln so that its temperature increases at it approaches the middle of the kiln, and then it cools after it passes through the heat source and back into cooler parts of the kiln.
