Nyquil has alchol in it. You may not have any alchol.

Coming from a huge line of alcoholics and many AA meeting this is what i have learned. you are NOT using it to abuse it correct? you are using it to releve your cold that you have tried to sooth in other ways . there is a difference. However they maybe some alcohol in it but i am sure they may have stopped putting it in Nyquil. if you are on that medicine that helps you quit drinking by making you sick if you drink alchol then do not use nyquil. you seem like your question is out of guilt. ask your sponsor if you are that concerned wiht it. As long as you are not going back to your old ways by abusing your cold medicines then you most deffinately are still staying your course of recovery.some of these answers are down right cruel and stupid! suggesting benydryl is not a good idea either than. the whole point of recovery is not to be dependant on something! if u say no becuse of the alochol you shouldnt suggest another drug! as long as its not being used as a sleep aid whats the probelm? if its for acold then maybe you need it. follow your heart. if you feel it would jepordize your recovery dont do it.

I don,t think it would be good for you since you are in alcohol recovery..Nyquil has a large amount of alcohol in it...i would try something like benadryl it will also help you to sleep and so will unisom its a sleeping aid that is safe and you can get it at any drug store or at walmart..

Best answer is no, as it does have alcohol in the medicine. As knowing people in recovery before, and meetings myself, I know people of both sides, some who will not touch anything, medicinal or not with alcohol and some who will take meds with alcohol. If your in recovery and asking this question I advise no, if you have a sponsor, talk it over with them as they would know your situation much better.

For heaven's sake! read the ingredients. NyQuil is mostly alcohol,sugar and flavoring.

Actually, it's OK do do ANYTHING in recovery. Drink Nyquil, booze, whatever. You can do what you want. You just might not stay in recovery.
I think Nyquil has alcohol in it. It used to anyway.

No is the standard answer. how long have you been in recovery? if it has been 5yrs or more it is probably OK. but there are much better ways to get a good nites sleep, Try meditation!

normally no cause it does have alcohol. Most aa sponsors tell you to stay away from mouth washes and cold medicine that have alcohol
