I heard he is a reserve police officer, not a military officer.
Plenty of people with money have gone to war, both our current war and every war before this one.

Not everyone in the Reserve has been (or would be expected to be) called up for service. Maybe he'd volunteer if he thought it were necessary, but I highly doubt he's bought his way out of it.
Biographical information indicates he is qualified as a reserve L.A. Port Police officer, and has been connected to the Miami Beach P.D. as well. No military service is mentioned, although he went to a school in Germany for military dependents and was reportedly mistaken for a soldier when still a young teen.

He's not a Navy Reserve officer. His father's in the Army (or was). I think you are thinking about David Robinson who has since retired from the NBA. If I remember correctly, he did his service, with waivers, in the Navy.
And just how many Navy personnel are on the ground in Afghanistan and Iraq bud?

Shaq is not in the Naval Reserve. He is a Reserve Deputy Sherriff. I just read an article about him taking down a hit-and-run suspect.

Money talks, always has , always will.
Regarding Politics, Race, anything, there is no such thing as black, brown, white, or yellow etc. -----only Green.
Regarding Iraq, it is only a matter of time to see who is making the most by escallating or de-escallating the war. Bush is only a puppet and doesn't even know it. Money is pulling his strings through intermediarys.

if he was in the military, the military has a clause that if you can prove that you can make more money (included housing, food, medical) upon exiting the military, you can terminate your contract... so he could not have to go... but he's not in the military so we don't have to go there.
