I seen the vactrain on discovery channel, but I can no longer find info. there.

The vactrain is a theoretical form of transportation that has some engineering merit but is as of yet unbuilt. It consists of a train driven by magnetic levitation (maglev) and traveling through an evacuated tube. By letting the train travel free of air resistance, it could theoretically achieve speeds in excess of Mach 5. I have provided a reference for one company that appears to be seriously developing the technology.
