Personally, I wouldn't buy from a breeder that I'm not "allowed" to visit. I want to see the parents, I want to see the facility. I want to see where these babies come from. If they're not willing to let you visit, are you able to at least see pictures?
Why not find a local breeder for your ekkie? Someone who can teach you what you need to know, and so that you can be a part of the important bonding process that goes along with hand feeds.
My Greenwing Macaw, Katie is still a baby, still weaning, and while I'm not comfortable with bringing her home until she's completely weaned, I do go visit with her for usually about two hours per day. There's no doubt that she's bonded with me and my family and she won't be home for another month yet.
That's my opinion at least...it's like a daycare. Would you take your kid someplace that you have been forbidden to visit while she's there? I wouldn't. It would make me very, very suspicious.

This may be due to the bird flu virus and other bird viruses.
Diesese in birds it highly contagous (only between birds, they dont affect humans), all you need to do is have birds of your own, and carry the virus into their bird aviries.
You should be concerned, but ask the breeder why?
If they cant give you a good answer, dont buy from them.
This may also be to prevent the babies from stress, as im sure they get alot of interest.
But they should be able to send you pictures of the aviaries and the birds, if they refuse to do that, just find another breeder, cos something is a miss.

Ok let me start that I do not breed birds and don't know much about them. I do breed dogs and cats. I never refuse a visit from a future owner. I have had a family in Tennessee that could not make the trip, what I did do was email pictures of all the puppies with all details. The choosen puppy was taken half way by myself and the other half by my mother, which is a friend of the family.
I would be concerned with any breeder that said I would not visit. It could be that their breeding location could be unsanitary. Or they could be like a breeding farm. As they always say Buyer Beware, and on this breeder I would be. I would look into other breeders.

See if there's a bird club local to the breeder and ask them what they know about them!! I got my birds (Z. finches) from a friend that's a breeder and they welcome visitors to their place (but you do have to wear a mask, gloves and walk through a shallow bleach tray before getting near the aviary).
It concerns me that they absolutely refuse all visitors. If a local bird club can't give good references I'd look to another breeder!

I used to hand feed for one of the foremost parrot breeders in the USA, he never let anyone around his breeders, just he and his caretaker. He said people carry diseases and it was too disturbing for the parrots. Another man I knew would let you visit but you had to put on a surgical mask and suit and dip your shoes in some sort of chemicals
so, yes, they are probably telling you the truth

I would ask for references and photos. I would also be sure to get more than just a few references. Birds are such fragile creatures, I don't blame the aviary, but they have to let you know what you're getting! Definitely get references!

while you're no longer tender with the difficulty or how the canines are saved i does no longer purchase a canines from a breeder n be counted what number titles. this isn't any longer usual for an excellent breeder to debark canines in any respect. i does no longer say it grew to become into in any respect usual for an excellent breeder to maintain that many canines at as quickly as the two as this is going to become puzzling to shelter, yet I even have seen it executed. might i purchase a canines from a breeder that saved that many canines? probable no longer. i does no longer be tender, whether the canines are nicely cared for, that the breeder has spent adequate time getting to be attentive to the canines's temperaments and tendancies. the different subject that strikes me is which you're saying they're only fed as quickly as an afternoon, it is usual for person canines, yet what struck me grew to become into which you mentioned the breeder mentioned two times on a regular basis feedings grew to become too costly.. so does that advise the canines foodstuff parts are being decrease to save funds?? That sounds very fishy to me.. a competent breeder ought to motivate you to touch you in case you have any questions even if you have recieved your puppy, it very almost sounds like they're advertising too many puppies to discover time for that. in my view i might urge you to no longer purchase a puppy from this breeder as you're no longer tender with them. Rightly so, as i does no longer the two. save searching for yet another breeder.
