There is enough for everybody, but certain countries have little resources of their own, and logistics and politics prevent some of those countries & people from receiving food and other materials. It could be because of the danger involved in delivering necessities to countries that are in civil war, there could be U.N. sanctions, or simply nobody cares.

People are down right greedy. Alot of people that have never have had the problem of homelessness and being hungry dont give two thoughts about helping out those people thinking that they dont deserve it or their not worth the time and effort. Or they put people off on others saying in their head or even aloud that someone else will take care of it, and that next person may say the same thing that they arent going to make a difference just to let someone else take care of it, and it goes on, but then theirs people who just dont care. If people could just know what its like then they would help people out alot more. Their are alot of homeless shelters and places for people to eat if theyre hungry but may be quite stubborn when it comes o staying in a shelter. Only if they werent always so depressed looking(in the shelters). They make me feel like im looking at some kind of psych ward. People need to make changes and help out more in order to make the change of anything. The whole world would need to change its ways to make the slightest change on how we all treat eachother and what we do with peoples problems

There are certainly enough resources to provide shelter and food for all. I think the problem can be traced to human nature. The world, however it was created, worked perfectly until man came on the scene. In fact, it may still be working perfectly but because we are not wise enough -- not God you might say -- we think it is out of whack. Cold and unfair as it appears, natural selection may be the answer to your question and it may be the way the Creator intended it to be. Hope he/she has something a little more humane and comfortable for us to evolve to.

there is not enough shelter and not enough food for everyone because there are too many people on this planet. We do not have enough resources to support the six and one half BILLION consumers who are already here, sucking the planet dry, taxing it's resources, polluting the environment, and destroying the future. We must STOP this out of control population growth now.

Politics

Economics is the social science that studies the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services. The word 'economics' is from the Greek words οἶκος [oikos], meaning house, and νόμος [nomos], meaning custom or law, hence "rules of the house(hold)."

Discussions about production and distribution date back to ancient laws and to philosophers, such as Plato. Economics in its modern sense, however, is conventionally dated from the publication of Adam Smith's The Wealth of Nations in 1776. Smith defines the subject in a way that yokes a proposed methodological program to practical concerns:

Political economy, considered as a branch of the science of a statesman or legislator, proposes two distinct objects: first, to supply a plentiful revenue or product for the people, or, more properly, to enable them to provide such a revenue or subsistence for themselves; and secondly, to supply the state or commonwealth with a revenue sufficient for the public services. It proposes to enrich both the people and the sovereign.

Because the political system in poor countries does not respect property rights and reward investment. Without sound prospects of return, the money needed to develop those resources will be invested elsewhere.

the economics of human cultures are based on inequality, in extreme cases those who have less have so little that their physical existence is endangered.
less corrupt political systems and protection of the citizens by the state usually prevent such situations.

We have food available to buy and other people can't buy food even if they could. We have wood and supplies to build houses and other people live in the middle of nowhere. Its all geography. Why do you think people moved out of Africa in the first place?
