i know it's wrong but i am just curious, how many years apart do you have to be in order not to be charged with statuetory rape? like let say a 20 year old met a 17 year old. would that be taken to court for statuetory? in my point of view statuetory rape is just plain out rape so if one doesn't want relations the other might force it anyways. but if they both feel that they're ready for such a relationship, i don't see how they could put it against you. am i wrong.

If she is under the legal age of consent, it is statutory rape even if she was willing to do it.
She is not old enough to legally give her consent.

It varies state to state. It depends on the age difference and what the age of consent is in the state.
In my state the age of consent is 16, but if there is more than a 4 year age difference then it still considered statutory rape if the younger person is under 18.
And it doesn't matter if both parties are willing or not. If one person is underage and the parents want to push it, charges will be filed and then you are a sex offender for the rest of your natural born days.

Anybody under the age of 18... that is considered statuetory rape. Just curious, what the heck is a 20 year old doing with a 17 year old anyway?? Wait til she's legal.

In most states 17 is legal. Certainly, the age difference as you stated is just fine. The only way a 17 yrs old would be illegal is if she was incapable of consent by reason of mental defect. While I am not an advocate of pre-marital sex, I was 20 once myself (albeit a long time ago). If you decide to do the deed make sure you both use protection.

Google it.. go to google, type in whatever state you are in and statutory rape laws, IE... North Carolina Statutory Rape Laws. Some states the age is like 14, here in NC its 16... and then of course some states both parties have to be 18 or older. Each state is different.

honestly.. it's wrong, even in the eyes of the public. My ex is going to be 21 and his girlfriend turned 16 about a month or 2 ago.. i just found out by him that they had a "very romantic night" if you get what I'm saying!! Just be careful, my opinion... don't get into it.. you treading in deep water my friend. There are lots of nice woman out there (if your having this problem or a friend) that are your age!! Some people say the reason they date younger people is because they are falling behind in something.. example my ex.. 21 and still in highschool.. his girlfriend 16 in grade 11.. he likes the fact he looks like the more higher up person.. with us.. i was in my first year of college and he didn't like that i was a year younger and only 18 in college..

First off, it is not rape. The term "rape" is used to manipulate the population and stir emotions in support of this social control. The age differential depends on the state. in some states two minors can be charged with it too.

I agree wait until shes 18 even though most states say that one a minor reaches 16 they are knowlegeable for their own actions and they know what they are doing but you still may be charged but to be on the safe side I say wait until she hits 18 then she'll be totally legal and they can't find a way bring down the hammer

in most states, anyone under 16 with anyone over 18 can be charged with statutory rape even if there was no sex. It's the parent's choice, even if they child doesn't want to press charges. They have no say if the parents do

Your spelling of statutory is the worst rape I've seen in awhile. Let me just solve this problem for you- do you know how many hot 24 year old females there are in this country? Stop splitting hairs, you dont' need the trouble.
