I have discovered an herbal pain killer; actually it heals chronic joint and bone pain as well. So it's not just a tranquilizer.
How can I patent it?

Keep it as a proprietary formula. Never patent anything you want to stay secret because when patent expires (non renewable) the formula is public domain.

It is better to sell your formula then getting in to patent stuff. There are many loop holes in patenting a formula.and by patenting ur formula does not make any mony unless it becomes known and available 2 others and reap its benefits.

See a patent lawyer - and bring lots of cash (at least $5,000.

Good luck.

P.S. If you want to patent your discovery based on medical claims for it, you will need scientific evidence/studies to support your patent claim.
