You have an ear infection for a start, and the eustachian tubes are likely blocked. The swollen gland under your chin is a lymph node, one of dozens in the area under the chin. The lymph system is responsible for the immune defense against infections, and yours being swollen is a sign that the system is working as advertized. Usually you see the swelling in response to a viral infection, and it goes down again when you get better. You will need to visit the doctor for an exam and a prescription of antibiotics to help with the ear infection, and to determine if anything else is going on. While it may well go away all on it's own if you wait, it's not worth the misery and time, and could also get worse in the waiting. It's not life threatening and not an emergency, so you can wait for the regular doctor's appointment in a day or so. If you spike a fever or start throwing up in the meantime, then you would need to head to the ER.

It sounds like one of three things: 1. Sever congestion in your ear. Try taking a psuedephrine decongestant (not pheylphaline) to see if that relieves the paint. I'd also put a cold compress where it hurts to reduce any swelling.
2. Ear infection in which case you'll need to get an antibiotic from the doc
3. Worst case scenario something more serious like a tumor, blod clot, or cyst. Again, you should see a doctor.

Chances are you have an infection. Could be near your sinuses or upper respritory. You worry when you have a lump there and it doesn't hurt. You may want to go see a doctor for antibiotics but t may subside in a few days on it's own. I find when I get that (I get that alot and normally it has to do with my sinuses and post nasal drip and fluid from that backing up into my ear canal) Motrin really helps with the pain

couple possibilities. earache, strep throat, tonsilitis. I actually got an ear infection at the same time as the tonsil problem. my tonsils got infected and inflamed all sorts of lymphnodes on my neck and behind my ears that I never knew existed. Then my ears also got infected. My ear aches are usually first noticed when my ear feels warm and really itches on the inside of the ear canal. It is usually very tender to touch. I would seriously go see a doctor. They won't go away on their own. you most likely need antibiotics.

i had the exact same thing...there is a name for it, but i cant remember...i went to the doctor and he said to just put warm stuff on it like a hot water bottle helped...i know its really painfull..the glands under my chin swell to like the size of golf balls....it went eventually by itself, but i took about 3 weeks for the swelling to go completely...the doctor also said to avoid salt and sour stuf like lemons, because it can make it worse. its probably going to get alot worse before it gets better...
