Hm well I'm not sure why you would want to speak less, but thinking about what your going to say before you say it might help you learn to not say anything you might regret.

Try to keep yourself busy with work. Whenever you are about to speak, ask yourself - "Is this the most important thing to do right now?"
Before you start speaking, ask yourself - "Where is all this taking me?"
After doing this for couple of days, measure the results.
Tip: To remind myself of speaking less, i tied a small string around my index fingure. It kept me aware of my resolution.

It is a very good introspection. Congrats.
I am also a victim of the same malady.
But I suggest you keep a tape recorder with you for a few days and record all the conversations.Every evening listen to the tape and think over it.
I am sure you will improve.

Silence is very difficult to achieve. It is the most eloquent way of expression of peace within. It is to be achieved after much perseverance and practice.

Pray before you speak. "Guide me, Lord, to say the right words, to speak something edifying." There's power in prayer, but God may well guide you to say nothing.

Just remember that you have two ears and only one mouth. The majority should always win.
