I'll drink several large glasses of water before going to bed if I expect I've drank enough to cause a hangover. Then I start the day with a big mug of coffee and as big a breakfast as I can stomach -- eggs, bacon and toast. Popping a B-complex vitamin on a full stomach helps too.
If I'm still hurting after all of that -- and I'm usually not -- then I'll find a nice place to sit in the sun. My hammock out back works for this. If it's winter, then I'll start a fire and lay in my favorite chair. A hot shower or bath does wonders to straighten me out as well.
I'm not especially prone to hangovers, but these rituals shake me out of them when they do happen. To prevent hangovers from happening in the first place, don't drink too heavily too often and stay well away from the cheap stuff.

The only thing that actually works is to drink lots of water before you go to sleep. Alcohol fools your body into thinking you have a lot more water in your system than you actually do. Because of this you get dehydrated and a hangover is simply you body not having enough water. Down a couple of liters of water after a long night of drinking and wake up as good as new.

My ritual is burnt toast, a multi-vitamin and lots of water before bed.
Here's why:
The carbon from the burnt outside acts as a filter to help sweep away toxins. (They use the same idea for victims of alcohol poisoning in the emergency room, except those people get a much more potent carbon mixture pumped into their stomachs.)
The bread helps to absorb some of the alcohol.
The multi-vitamin helps replenish vitamins A, B6, C, potassium, and others which are lost during alcohol metabolism.
The large quantity of water, necessary to down the vitamin and get the burnt taste out of your mouth anyway, helps with the dehydration.
You actually fight the three major causes of a hangover with this: acetaldehyde (the toxic by-product of alcohol metabolism), dehydration and nutrient depletion.
Cheers!

The Mexican people believe that the best cure for a hangover or 'Cruda', is Posole.
It is a delicious , spicy stew made from chili powder, pork, onions, garlic and hominy. It really does work to settle your stomach and relieve the headache. I'll post the recipe if you want it, or you can just find a litle cafe in the nearest Mexican neighborhood.

warm milk with melted peanut butter, few splashes of Franks extra hot sauce one raw egg mixed into the glass, celery salt, bacon grease about a tablespoon eat the bacon before you drink this add some fresh mint or fresh basil to give it a fresh taste just mix it up with spoon and then open your pie hole and chug it down. you will fill better in about 1 hour it sounds bad but it works. if you are going to get drunk go to the store to make sure that you have everything. and by the way the peanut butter will melt in the warm milk. the color isn't very appealing either
