The other day some one called me from this area code 1 801.
I know that the number 1800 is to call for free. It was not a person who called me. It was a machine. It told me that i was chosen to win a car. But when i heared this i hung up. But i had never seen this area code before.

Good thing you hung up, a friend of mine stood on the phone pressing all the buttons he was directed to push, he never got the gift they were going to send him for winning, and he was on the phone for at lease 11/2 to 2 hours all excited.

But, he did receive a frikin big long distant call phone bill for about $270, from far out country (cant remember what country though) They made him press the buttons to transfer his own call into long distant phone charges from a phony phone company...what a lesson, I'm glad you were smart.

sorry, no answer, just thought I would share that with you, and maybe give others a head up.

Utah: Salt Lake City Metro. There is a lot of telemarketing coming out of there.

that area code would, i think from Utah, try going to whitepages.com and doing a reverse phone # search.
