I just purchased a new Magnavox 37 inch LCD TV. The image is awesome and the size is amazing but white light bleeds from the corners whenever the screen goes black or when the image is really dark. Did I buy a deffective TV or is this normal on all LCD TVs?

It is not clear what you mean "bleed from the corners". Is the screen itself dark, but light is coming from another place? Are the corners of the screen (on the screen) light while the rest is dark?. In either case, I would definitely contact the dealer and/or manufacturer and describe the problem, as it doesn't sound normal. LCD screens do not go completely black when the scene turns dark all over; that is the nature of the display. However, the screen should be a uniform darkness all over.

LCD televisions, unlike plasma or DLP, uses a backlight that shines through a crystal display. It's possible that your display panel might be out of alignment.
Contact the dealer you bought it from.
