If people are acting abnormally, should you go with your gut instinct? Like my ex lied to me and this is a very long story and disgusting what he did. But it hurt me really bad and someone like me who is prone to suicidal thoughts and harming herself. I just don't see how I can ever trust people.

Well, the important thing in my opinion would be for you to get to the point where you can trust yourself - then no matter what others do, you will always know that you are safe, because you can take care of yourself. There is a great book by Louise Hay that really helped me out. It's called "You can heal your life" - here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/You-Can-Heal-Your-Life/dp/0937611018/sr=8-2/qid=1170052295/ref=pd_bbs_2/102-6980058-2916931?ie=UTF8&s=books

Peace!

Even if people seem to act "normally", they might not be trustworthy either. But with that said, not everyone is bad. There ARE good people out there. If you can't find them, you either might be looking in the wrong places or you just get unlucky with the people you meet. I guess all you can do is try to get to know people (even if it's with your guard up) because you should be able to get an idea of the kind of person they are after a while, and whether they're trustworthy or not.

I do hope that you completely cut off contact with your ex though. It's not necessary to have those kinds of people in your life, not even as an acquaintance.

I also agree with the person above me--turn to God. Pray for comfort, for someone trustworthy to come along, and to help you cope while you're alone.

Trusting some one takes a long time, especially after we have been hurt. Trusting your gut instinct is the best, if something tells you not to trust someone, then don't, you probably right. In time you will know who to trust and who not to

Well that is mostly up to you to decide. You are mostly plagued by fear of unsecured feelings. You have to really build up your trust again. Not everybody is the same way as your ex. There are millions of people in this world. Although, I can understand your betrayal of your ex. But that should not be something to bother yourself every single day. Just try to remember this, yesterday was everything in the past, tomorrow is a new day where you wake up and do something new that you have not done in your past.

Trust in Jesus and no one else! A lot of people, my family, friends, hv disappointed, lied, and hurt me badly. I had always been a victim until I told myself that enough is enough and that I should stop trusting people so easily. The lies and hurt are even more painful since they were caused by those I TRUSTED the most. My life is a lesson u could say so trust in God and also in urself only.

Go with your gut and go get some counselling for your trust issues. If he lies and hurts you, leave him. You may be depressed for a while and lonely but eventually you will at least not be hurt so often by him.

now youre singin my tune. ive been a loner my entire life. and from now on youre probably goin to see things that arent there because youre afraid to feel this again. try to remember though, that youre trustworthy right? people can rely on you and put faith in you right? then if thats the case there is definitely someone out there like you that you can rely on as well. the world is a big place and there are trustworthy people in it. theyre just getting harder to find as time goes by, but they do exist. keep up hope.

Trust is sort of an abstract word like jealousy. If are feeling like someone is lying to you think "Am I being practical", or "Am I overreacting" When you think about why you are feeling the way you do you can weed out the unjustified feelings.

Of course you can trust people, but its not always wise, mostly you will end up being disappointed. I guess it depends on your strength to get over it. Try not to lose faith in people, and remember its human nature to make mistakes.

think on people you can trust since you are child, people that you have trusted before and never fail.
like your parents , brothers , sisters , been around then for a little bit, and you will be fine.
