I've encountered?

Question

I've encountered this math problem: "a clock that reads 10:00 am is faced in the mirror, if you would read it from the mirror, what time is it?" do ot know if this is just a tricky question or the aswer would be 2:00... pls enlighten me.. tnx

This may be a so-called trick question. If the clock is analog, the time would read 2:00. However, if the clock is digital, it could read a different time using the NTP (Network Time Protocol). The NTP is one of the oldest Internet protocols used to synchronise the clocks of computer systems. Therefore the clock would read 10:00:00 and in the mirror it would read 00:00:01, a very different time. You can do a web-search of NTP to find out more.

Wow, that is a tricky question. My guess is that it would still be 10am because whether or not it had the numbers on it to identify the time, the hour hand is still shorter than the minute hand. Now if this was just a grade school math problem, they might just want to know what time it looks like it would be without getting technical. In that case I MIGHT say 2:00. If you say it's still 10am and give the teacher the reasons(hour hand being shorter than minute hand, the #'s themselves on the clock), I don't see how she could say you are wrong.

It seems to me that even if the numbers were reversed in the mirror, you would notice there is a difference between '10' and '2'. If there are no numbers on the clock, just a blank dial with hands, then yes, 2 o'clock would work. But otherwise, you'd have to be pretty dense to confuse the two.

if it were a non analog clock it wouldnt be readable and i dont think they are thinking of a numberless clock. try not to overthink problems, most of the time they are not tricks.
