Its just that when my bf messes w/my dogs tail, he doesn't seem to care at all so we were just curious if he even felt anything.

along with having breakable bones in there tail, there are also nerve endings. Dogs, and cats use there tail to express feelings, and emotions.

The tail is part of their spine. Step on it and you'll see just how much feeling they have (don't even THINK of actually TRYING that)! Some dogs just don't care what you do to them and so they don't respond to certain stimulation.

According to an article I found, dogs do have feelings in their tails. Docking of tails is painful, according to several veterinarians.

Yes Kay, they feel pain, it's because it is an extension to their spine. there are blood vessels and Nerves that run down the length of the tail. Best to leave it alone.

They really do....One day the door banged on my dog's tail due to the wind and it was really sad. My dog suffered from the cut in his tail and could not eat during weeks!!!

yes of course ,they also feel sad or happy and know love ,so they must have a soul, just like trees do
sqeeze a dogs tail with a par of plyers, and see if it reacts .(just kidding ,please do not harm inocent dogs)
i advice you to try it with a Irish wolfhound (not kidding now try it)
his reaction should be noticable enough for you
