I have Paul Mitchell's The Smoothing Iron, and I can't believe I ever owned anything else. It is the best appliance I have ever owned, and makes my African-American hair stick straight. I have no regrets whatsoever about buying it - my only regret is that I didn't buy it sooner! If you decide on that one, it has the lime green plates.

I use Pearatin Fortifying Reparative Serum, a product made by LOMA. It makes my hair feel incredibly soft, shiny and it smells wonderful!

I have a FHI (which is very similar to CHI but less costly). I love it!!! And I use BioSilk Silk Therapy and Balms to keep it soft and silky!! Their products work really well!

I prefer Chi its really good and it keeps your hair straight all day long! I keep my hair silky by using dove and tresseme. I also mix honey in with my shampoo once and awhile and rinse really well...it works fabulously!

Hope I helped...Good luck!

I use a chi straightner, and after continual every day use, it does fry your hair, but if you spray on a shine or sealer, it will stop or delay frizz and breakage.

if you use an ionized hairstraitener and blowdryer it keeps your hair from getting staticy* and it keeps if from looking like it has been fried too.
