like one i wanted to know is how you dial a number and then you hang up and the phone rings and no one is there?
or any other

this "trick" is a ring back service used by technicians to test a line. The number to call depends on the phone company.

ngufra is right it varies from telephone company to telephone company. Every so many months it is changed to prevent customers from using it when Tech are in the field trouble shooting and need that line.
