Please help. It is 1:09 AM. I went to store at 11:30 PM with my bank card. When I got to the front to pay. I could not find it. I retraced my steps twice, checked with store personnel and it was not found. This is a bank card. It can only be used as a debit card if you have the pin number, but(duh)I had it wrote on the back of the card, any other time it has to be used as a credit card. How can someone else use it? I tried to call (tonight) the credit union that issued the card to me, but there is no after hour number. I am going nuts.. what do I do? Report it to police?

Since you cannot get a hold of the credit union that issued you the card you need to contact the police immediately to make a report. Once it is normal business hours contact the credit union and make them aware of the situation, tell them that you have filed a police report and provide them with the police report number as well as the number for the police department.

You need to do this immediately before your card is used, or used again without your authorization & your bank account is wiped out of all your money. Please do it now!!!

If you have the papers that the card came with originally you could cancel it, there is always a 24hour 800 number to cancel lost or stolen cards. If you think you misplaced it among your belongings don't cancel it cuz then you'll have to wait a week or so to get a new one, just place a hold on it. If you actually beleive you lost it in a public place search high and low for the letter it came with and cancel it ASAP. If you can't find the papers file a police report noting the time you lost it. That way should any purhchases have been made since it was lost and you contact someone at the credit union you won't be liable for paying them. But on the other hand pinpad purchases are not protected by stolen card rules only signature purchases. Sorry.
