you need ATPto tense your muscle ,and the ATPis dating from the calories that the cell has stored,and release needs ATP too,the principle is easy:the muscle in tense always need ATP to retern to the release

Isometrics that is fitness where you oppose muscle with muscle uses calories. This is the Charles Atlas method or part of it.
plus if you build giant charles atlas isometric muscles they will use calories as well.
look up isometrics to find movements

Just by breathing you are burning calories, so I would imagine by activley using your muscles(even if just flexing) you burn slightly more calories than if you were to be completley still.
I don't think your going to get rock hard abs and buns of steel though. LOL

no absouletly not ........... If you tense them they burn calories if you relax them they absorb them back in .................. unless you tense them and relax them in a rythym with a person of the oppisite sex the the calories are released in an explosive.............
