If you touch the cats, always make sure to wash your hands afterwards before touching your nose or eyes. Cat saliva and dander is what causes the allergic reaction, and keeping your hands away from your face will help tremendously. You can also take over the counter allergy medications. Claritin (or its generic equivalent) is a good one and it doesn't make you sleepy. There is a product that can be wiped on the cat's coat to help reduce allergens, but if that isn't available, try rubbing the cats down with distilled water.

Even on pills he's gonna have an complicated time respiratory, red eyes and all form of issues. There are people allergic to the cats saliva and individuals allergic to the cat's saliva and individuals allergic to the cat's dandruff. Cats with little tendency to augment dandruff are frequently said as an-allergic. yet they don't artwork with people allergic to saliva. Cats salivate on their fur to sparkling it up, and the fur leaves saliva all round. Fur-a lot less cats are so grotesque they ought to have achieved some thing undesirable in a previous life. You ideas: a million) promote off the boyfriend, get a cat. Given the scenario interior the international immediately, odds are good in this one. 2) Get a cat, save it interior the backyard, under no circumstances ever enable him interior the domicile (implies having a backyard at some given time on your life) 3) do not get a cat (evaluate you may be mildly allergic too and performance no concept)

I have a cat, and my sister's boyfriend is allergic to them... He gets quite sick, but he says that all he needs is to get used to my cat. I remember that he had one years ago and now his family has another, and he says "I can get used to a cat, but when I meet a new one I'm allergic again"
Maybe you could get used to your boyfriend's cats, but if you don't I'm sure there is some sort of anti-allergy medicine for you :-)

Be sure you are getting allergy shots to help with your allergy and consider meeting him at your place instead of his. Also have him buy some pet spray to use on the cats to designed to help reduce the allergy. My sis in law used to buy it at her local pet store as her hubby was allergic to animal dander but I can't remember what the actual name of the product was.

Yes there is. most people think that allergies come from cat hair but its not so. What causes allergies in people is actually the cats dandruff. A good way to keep you from going thru allergy hell is ta have your cats well bathed and brushed to reduce dandruff. And then of course there are always over the counter allergy meds. Good luck :)

If you are really violently allergic, you need to discuss this with an Allergist. Dander and fur on his clothing could cause you to have a bad reaction.
There are measures to reduce your exposure, but desensitization shots are probably the only practical cure.
Kudos to you for not just demanding he get rid of his beloved pets.

Get treated at an allergy clinic where they can help you develop a resistance to the reaction over time.

first off if a guy has cats he sounds kinda fruity. all joking aside there is nothing you can do about allergic reactions except stay away from cats. tell him its you or the cats and if he picks the cats hes a real loser that you should never had been with.
