I heard not- unless they want to take you elsewhere-than never allow it. In the case fight. I heard this on a program on TV.
Not sure what I would do if they were going to cause phyical harm-I would fight than. If they wanted money or possessions I would hand it over.

Do NOT fight back. That thing where women somehow overpower a male assailant only happens on Xena: Warrior Princess. But everything is situational and you MAY be able to do something to save yourself. Just keep your wits about you, and be prepared to take action when you can to draw attention to yourself.
If you're being taken in a car somewhere for example, do not let them take you away from the scene of the abduction. Create an accident by ramming that car into something or another car. Force the dirt bag to run rather get caught by the police. Once they get you away from the scene of initial contact, your changes of survival drop dramatically.

In my opinion, there is no single good answer to this question.
Your best course of action will depend on the totality of the circumstances. When you end up in a critical incident of this nature, survival is the only goal you should go for. If you are in a crowded urban area, you may want to yell for help, make a scene and try to draw attention to the situation. If you are in an isolated area, yelling may do nothing but aggravate the gunmen.
Assess the situation the best you can and take whatever action you believe will help you. If the gunman demands property, give it to him. Nothing you own is worth dying for. If he tries to take you further from safety, do everything possible to not go. Movement often leads to increased risk to your safety. Fake a seizure, fall to the ground, beg, plead, cry or do whatever you have to do to not be taken anywhere.
Generally, fighting back against an assailant armed with any weapon - especially a gun - is a bad idea unless you are armed and prepared. It is difficult to disarm a person and a fight make trigger the gunman to shoot.
I wish I could give you a good answer on how to deal with a situation like this, but each incident is different. Just SURVIVE!

i don't know of the statistics, but i have to say that fighting back isn't always a good option.
The best you can do is to stay calm, give them what they want (if it's a robbery), and move along.
If you're a female, and he wants to take you some place, put up a struggle. You know you're likely dead if you follow him.
Sometimes, the assailant may be a coward, sometimes not. We can't really foresee these things.
On a side note, sign up for a self-defence class. I'm sure your local PD can help recommend a few. Just remember that self-defence isn't about hitting someone back or returning fire. It's about managing a situation from start to finish, that is, from avoiding it, to reacting to it, to prosecuting it.
Good luck.

Here is what I have heard and plan to go by. Say you're in a parking lot at a store... or mall... or where ever, and a person holds you at gunpoint then tells you to get in the car... fight it. You MIGHT end up dead, but if you go along and get in the car, you more than likely WILL end up dead. Putting up a fight in a place where SOMEBODY might hear the gunshot might be enough to make the creep too nervous to pull the trigger.
Or not.
I figure that, at gunpoint, I'm just about as good as dead anyway and I'd rather die putting up a fight than "go along" ANYWHERE with a guy with a gun. Now, if all he wants is my purse, heck yeah, I'll cough up my purse.
I guess it would all depend on what "go along" involves.
I'd rather be shot in a public place than in a remote place. At least my body'll be easier to find...

You just never know what to tell anyone---if you are not skilled at trying to take a weapon from someone --DONT! Then you can only do it at a very close range and you need to be quick and catch the person totally off guard before you even consider it.it all depends on the situation, skill, size, type of weapon, closeness of weapon,-there are several ways to defend yourself--------i'm sorry I just dont know what to say to you at this point----fight yes/no???? I would, but that is me and it all depends on the circumstances at that particular moment-------the adrenlin flows and anything could happen ( ex cop here)

Absolutely, my gun is bigger and I know I can shoot better than some thug punk who wants to put my life in jeopardy to support his drug habit. The only thing a criminal fears is an armed victim. If they don't know who's carrying a weapon, we're all safer. If you're comfortable with firearms, get your own CCW license. Carry a handgun every day and practice often. You and your neighborhood will be that much safer for it. Plus, it's just fun to shoot.

This depends on whether you can get the drop on the gunman. If he is intently focusing on you every second, if you fight, you will most likely die on the spot. Like I said, every situation is different.

Every law enforcement person i've ever talked to strongly suggests that you go along with the gunman. Your chances of disarming them are just not worth your life.
