regarding questions on parts and hardware as well as any mtb related info

not mtb-specific, but http://bikeforums.net is pretty popular, and has a section for mountain-biking.

who knows, you might also be able to find an IRC channel for mtb's.

Try doing a search on a search engine for mountain bike forums. There's forums out there for everything.
