I have a lab and a lab/border collie mix and the shedding never stops! There are a few things you can try though. The first is a tool called a rake but this will only help you if your dogs coat favors the Akita. If your dogs coat favors the lab, I would suggest the furminator, I have had really good results with it. Just becareful not to apply too much pressure and keep the session short so you don't irritate your dogs skin. You can find both these tools at pet stores like Petco or Petsmart. Good Luck

Sadly, I have a sheeder too. There are no magic elixirs that will cure that. Beware, shedding is seasonal, and the warmer months are the worst. Every summer is a nightmare for shedding.

You can try a Furminator brush, fatty acid supplements, and an ultra premium dog food (if he is not already on one). They all help, but both of those breeds are bad shedders. You will probably never be able to stop the shedding, but you can minimize it.

I've found that even dogs that are NOT to shed...shed. good luck with this one. It well shed pretty much it whole life, more so in the late spring and ALL summer.
Best of luck.

Good luck. Hes a shedder. Make sure you brush him everyday that will help eliminate some. The only other thing you can do is shave him, but I wouldn't do that.

All year long. What are you feeding him? Diet can help. You should also get one of those brushes that reach the undercoat.
