Unfortunately, getting rid of a stuffy nose is tricky and most medicines and other therapies are for short term relief. Personally, I don't use medicines because they always give me rebound congestion, so I also have to suffer and believe me, I feel your pain, and you have my sympathy. Hot showers make me feel better, and the steam opens up the nasal passages for some relief. Using a humidifier can also do the same thing. Vicks vapor rub also feels good - I rub a little under my nose instead of all over my chest like for kids. As far as the drying out when you have to breathe thru your mouth, I use chap stick at night to minimize my lips drying out. Green tea can make mucous more slippery and may help the congestion as well. Stay away from dairy - It makes mucous thicker. I have also used those "Breathe Right Nasal Strips" and sometimes they really do work. Some people swear by nasal sprays, not medicated ones, but just normal saline solution, but I have never used them - It personally creeps me out to put something up my nose, LOL.
Also, consider why you are congested. Is it a cold? Is it chronic allergies? Not much you can do for a cold than just wait it out, but if you have a chronic condition, perhaps a doctor can help.

Every supermarket has a 'medicine' aisle. Go find it, and buy a jar of Vicks Vapour Rub, (its like Vaseline to look at and touch)You can put a little under your nose, or on a hanky and sniff it. Second option is Eucalyptus oil, put that on a hanky as well. Guaranteed to work (either suggestion). But make sure there is nothing causing the stuffiness, (are you allergic to some smell around you etc.) Good luck.

I just did this the other night, my sinuses are all stuffed up. Boil some water, pour into a big bowl, bend your head over to inhale the steam(not to close though lol), and drape a towel over your head and cover the bowl. I took it a step further, and added a few drops of tea tree oil. It was awful, and burned a little at first from the smell, but I was cleared up for a few hours, then went to bed. If you're in the US, Walmart sells the tea tree oil in the vitamin section, about 4.00 for a small bottle. Works for lots of other stuff too.

Have you tried cutting down on dairy? My acupuncturist once told me dairy played a big role in mucus production. It does make a huge difference for me. So just try not having any milk, cheese, yogurt for three or four days (assuming you can avoid it) and see if things clear up some. I am not sure that the fermented dairy is as bad as the fluid milk, so I'd start by cutting it all out for a shot. Then, if it works, try getting things back in one by one and identify the main culprit. If it doesn't work, at least you have the consolation of going back to all your milk and cheese.
Replacing my lattes with green tea (no milk) was helpful for me--it was a pleasant substitute with a touch of caffeine and the vapor seemed to help clear my nostrils too.
Good luck

Avoiding dairy can really help. Dairy makes more mucous. If you eat it, drink a lot of extra water afterwards. This will help to thin it. If you like hot peppers they will clear up your nose. Read about them on the net. There are a lot of health benefits to eating hot peppers and they are very high in Vitamin C. However, people with upset or sensitive stomachs cannot eat them.

" If you are not allergic to Peanut Butter;
Eat some, with a little salt on it.
Your nose should open up within thirty minutes.
( Prostaglandins )
If this does not work, blanch 6 Almonds in plain water, forming an Almond milk emulsion./
To this, add some Orange Blossom Honey. and watch out for your nasal tsunami. :) "

According to the maxiofacial surgeon my mother visited after she had to have surgery due to allergies and too much AFRIN.
Take a glass of hot water and mix with salt until it will no longer dilute. Then simply lean over and snort the water into your sinuses and then blow out. DO NOT SWALLOW! since you nose and mouth are connected. This will clean out your sinuses and is good for temporary relief. I have done this and it does help (makes your eyes water though)

You can use a humidifier while you sleep so it keeps your throat and mouth moist . Also, a Vics waterless humidifier is great while you sleep it emits menthol which I find will clear my nose. Use saline spray it won't unplug it but it makes your nose feel better.
Hope you feel better soon.
