Well, my sister is dating someone ten years older than her and I know that no one in my family likes it but she doesn't care. He treats her well and he is nice to her and most importantly, they are in love so that's that. My husband is five years older than me but sometimes I'm still the mature one! So I would say, the older a man is, the better it is for you! Good luck explaining that to your family though.

My husband is 12 years older than me. (He's 39, I'm 27.) It's never really been an issue for us. We didn't start dating until I was 23 and out of college though. I think that sort of age difference can be difficult if you're at different places in your life...neither of us had been married or had children, and we were both in the midst of career changes, plus we are of the same faith. Being Christians, neither of us believed in having premarital sex so we didn't bring any of that baggage to the relationship either. (We've had plenty of post-marital sex to make up for it! :) Since everything else fit with us so well the age difference didn't really matter to us. I think some relatives were skeptical, but once they had seen us together and got to know him I don't think they thought anything of it either.
I do think there are limits though...I don't think I could date someone who was old enough to be my father, and you do need to respect statutory rape laws, i.e. if you are under 18 you should not be dating someone who is "illegally" older. But If your partner is really the right person for you, your family will just have to get over it.

My brother and his wife are 15 years apart in age. My brother is the older of the two. They are a sweet couple and do well together. I once dated a 53 year old man when I was 23 and we had a great time. The only reason we didn't last was because of his kids from a previous marriage. They would not let him see any peace with our relationship. If he would have been willing to stick it out, we would be together still I'm sure. it made me mad that other people thought our relationship was their business. Look, as long as everybody is of legal age, don't let others ruin your relationship. Best wishes

Hugh hefner is becoming a dad at 80 with a girl less than half his age. older people have wisdom and experience and the younger person brings wonder and energy. Just make sure stuff you adore now won't get old quick. Older parners can be a bit impatient and judgemental and the younger one needs dicipline and self esteem to deal .Good luck!

So...your dating the elderly? It's cool. My wife and I are the same age, but my father at age sixty is dating a 30 year old. I personally see nothing wrong with it. Do what makes you happy. You family will just have to be happy for and they love you. It also took me a little time to get used to it, but see nothing wrong. My father is happy and that is all that counts. Good luck

My fiancee is 34 and I am 26, not a HUGE age difference; but still pretty big age gap. I don't think that age matters really, as long as you both love each other (and that you are both legally consenting adults)
