Yes, thats normal actually. My boyfriend is a tattoo artist, so im around in constantly. Yes a little big of red and swelling is perfectly normal for a new tat. After a few days, the swelling should go down, and the red should also. Make sure you keep it clean and take real good care of it. The better care you take, the better color you will have when the healing process is over. Hope i helped!!

actually, i am pretty sure that it is just "excess ink" not "seeping color."
there will always be some excess ink on the surface of your skin from having to tattoo done, which should come off after the first few cleanings.
and the redness and swelling is OK too!
if you fell and skinned your knees, they would be red and swelled too, right?
a tattoo is another form of trauma to the skin.
but after the first couple days, if you are still concerned, you can go to/call the place you got it done at, and ask them any questions that you might still have!!

It is normal for a tattoo to bleed the some color, and plasma.
It will be swollen and red for at least 48 hours....Do not overtreat the tattoo, Do not touch it excessively.Let your body accept it and heal naturally.
Make sure your washing it at least twice a day with an anti-bacterial soap. rub soap around with your fingers, rinse with warm water and pat dry.
DO NOT use any ointments or Lotions for a couple days at least until it is done oozing.
Sings of a serious tattoo infection are
Red streaks streaking off the tattoo
Very raised and swollen.
The tattoo will feel "hot"
Pussing, and bleeding.
The tattoo will feel extremely tender
Give it a couple days, if its still, red,and swollen, and oozing, you will need to see a Dr and get some antibiotics to help the healing process..
GOOD LUCK!

yep! my tattoos always ooze some color for the first 24 hours. totally normal. and the red and swelling is normal too. your skin experienced a bit of trauma getting the tattoo and that's the skins way of dealing with it. just be sure to take care of it and wash it a few times a day with antibacterial soap. it should heal great.

Completely normal. Mine are usually red and swollen for a day or two and the color 'seeping' should stop around that time to.
In the future if you are concerned or worried, you should call you tattoo artist and talk with him or her.

Oh yeah, no worries. You should expect it to get red and swell a bit. Just be sure that you are keeping it clean- my favorite soap to use is dial.
