May the peace blessings and mercy of God be upon you

In the Qu'ran, when God mentions punishment for the disbelievers, criminals, polytheists. He also mentions his mercy for those who believed and have God-Consciousness.

Please read the entire Qu'ran for yourself, I suggest the translation by M. Khan it is the best in meaning in my opinion. I have read the Marmaduke Pickthall, but it was in old English. You must realize though that no matter who the translator we can no longer call the translation God's word. I suggest you listen to a recitation of the Qu'ran just to see the effect it has on your soul.

Quick facts

The word(s) "punishment" appears 170 time(s) in 154 verse(s) in Quran in M. Khan translation.

The word(s) "forgive" appears 172 time(s) in 158 verse(s) in Quran in M. Khan translation

The word(s) "forgiveness" appears 76 time(s) in 72 verse(s) in Quran in M. Khan translation.

The word(s) "love" appears 70 time(s) in 61 verse(s) in Quran in M. Khan translation.

All you have to do is believe in God alone, his messengers, his books, his Angels, divine pre-decree, give charity, fast, and make the pilgrimage to Mecca if you can afford it.

Then you will be one of those who are successful on the Day of Judgment.

Peace Be With You

Koans are paradoxical poem/riddles used in Zen Buddhism to break the mind of using ideas, thoughts, and concepts. I don't think that koans do talk more about punishment and politics than about love and forgiveness.

Here's an example of a koan that everyone's heard: "What is the sound of one hand clapping?"

Are you talking about a zen concept? Or the Qur'an.

Assuming the latter, Both the Qur'an and Bible are rather judgmental. But, see Surah 109 for example. The Qur'an is filled with love and forgiveness, as well as the occasional judgmental poor Surah (less than the bible)

God does not forbid you from showing kindness and dealing justly with those who have not fought you about religion and have not driven you out of your homes. God loves just dealers.” (Quran 60:8)

No it does not talk about punishment more than love and peace. It talks about love and peace and describes heaven for the good people and encourages good deeds more than punishments.

Yes it talks about politics, but not only politics! also finance, biology, geology and a lot more. It's a complete system.

Read it to make sure.

I think you mean Koran??
It is meant to teach through fear.. Actually us parents do that with our kids.. if you think about it.. if you do this??? your going to get it!

It is that kind of thing.. it comes from a very strict country.. That has been the way they have been taught for years that they don't question it.

it has almost the same wording as the christian bible. most of the characters are the same. do you actually know what the major difference is?
why pick on one and not the other? they both revel in bloodshed and death. seldom do you find love, just fear, guilt and murder.
