Other religions are tolerant of people's beliefs. Some moreso than others. Why does Christianity think they are better than everyone else in that respect?

Based on the number of times I have heard this question on this site, a whole lot of people must be running across a whole lot of Christian impostors.

Anyone who believes, regardless of what they believe, believe they are right and others are wrong. But the vast majority tolerate those who do not believe as they do.

Might the problem be that Christians, just as Muslims, atheists, Buddhists and the rest, voice their belief when the subject comes up??

I think for one thing, you're confusing "tolerance" with "acceptance". We don't accept the beliefs of other religions, but we may have commanalities. If you look at the moral beliefs of other religions, you will see many similarities.

Which religions exactly are "tolerant", more so than Christianity?

Hinduism? LOL! It's one of the most intolerant religions on the planet. The Brahmans have kept other religions down in India for thousands of years. Read The Hindu Genocide of Women by Sita Argawl http://usminc.org/wymyn.html

Islam? Very tolerant. Yeah. Right. Try moving to an Islamic country and asking why isn't Islam tolerant of other religions and see what happens. Look at the civil unrest in Iraq and see how Shiite and Suni Muslims can't even tolerate each other. Look at how Muslims have persecuted (i.e., killed members of) Ba'Hai and Zoroastrians.

Zoroastrians? If you're not born one, you can't join. Everyone who's not one is damned to Hell.

Ancient Roman Pagans? Forced their religion onto any culture they assimilated. Tried to force the Jews to worship a statue of Zues. Killed and persecuted millions of Christians during the Lion Times.

Athiests? Communists persecute and killed millions of Christians. Communist policies toward Judaism were not much better than the Nazis. They turned Churches into horse barns. Even today in China, Christians must worship underground. The Fallon Gong sect of Buddhism is firecly persecuted.

And what about minor cults and sects? Scientologists? A cult for sure. Not tolerant of criticism, for sure too. Satanists? They hate everybody! Wiccans (and all garden variety occultists)? Why do you think they spell "Christian" as "xtian"??? Out of tolerance or hate???

The fact is, The United States was founded by Christians, is predominantly Christian, and we TOLERATE all kinds of different religions.

gorgeoust said, "Sweetie, they will report this question. You mark my words. You hit close to home and they respond with censoring your opinion."
LOL! Then I must hit home with Hindus, Wiccans, Satanists, and Scientologists and so forth when they get my answers deleted! LOL! Thanks for proving my point, georgie!

Which religions are tolerant of other's beliefs? And not all Christians are either, just the more fundamentalist ones, who, if they actually followed what they preach, wouldn't be on the internet to bi itch about the rest of the world.

Is "Answers" a bad place to express one's views? I thought this was an "open" forum especially in the areas of religion and philosphy.....I don't think it's right that anyone should get upset about others opinions A little "tongue in cheek" ribbing, OK, angry name-calling NOT-OK...To paraphrase the Bible : "Tell, but, don't yell"....I believe a good debate on controversial subjects is healthy...

This type of Christianity does not think they are better, they just think that they are right no matter what anyone shows them, proves to them, or says to them. These types of Christians are by definition delusional, and like the bible says, you (as a Christian) should have nothing to do with people that don't believe like you.

For the same reasons Atheists are unwilling to tolerate anyone who doesn't agree with them...

* Because they just know they have the truth. the obsolute, one and only truth. They will even argue with you that there is absolute truth if you say there is no absolut truth, but they cannot prove it. The claimGod is absolut truth and his word the bible is. so if you deny the God of the bible you are going to hell.

If you dare claim you were Christian, but left, they will argue with you that you never were a Christian because if you were you would not have left. *

They are not tough to think themselves better. The Bible says, "our righteousness is as filthy rags". Does that make us feel better than anyone else.
It also teaches to treat everyone as if they were our master. Jesus is the one that done it all for us. we only need to believe in our hearts and confess.
