The reason they call themselves Christian in the first place rather than something else is because they reject Judaism which focuses only on the Law of the OT and none of the NT. Why not just call themselves Jewish or a form of? Jesus himself says he came to fulfill the Law which means they aren't required to follow it to the fullest extent anymore. Thus many of the required practices from the OT that God said must be followed or else, people insist don't apply to them at all. If all anyone does is pick and choose what applies to them and what doesn't, why follow a religion in the first place? If you're going to do that, then why not just create a different religion, give it a different name and don't group yourself with what you don't believe in? Meaning don't say "I'm (fill in the blank) but I have my own version of it."

Yes, exactly. You do not get to "cherry pick." Either suck it up or spit it out. The problem is, public stoning of adultresses and unruly children is frowned upon in modern society.

I have a great suggestion for a new religion: The Church of Divine Guilt.

I don't care what people call it Jewish Law or Christian Law, I only know I have to follow God's Law. In fact, the NT is much more difficult to follow as in the OT, it is an eye for an eye & if you kill someone you have committed a sin but in the NT, you have to bless those who curse you and if you so much as THINK of killing someone, you have already committed a sin. Unfortunately, as you said it, people pick and choose what applies to them & if it is too troublesome for them to follow a certain law, they will take another excerpt from the Bible to give themself an excuse why they have not follow that law.

The whole point of the bible new and old testament is our need for salvation.
The Old Testament looks forward to a Messiah - Jesus - The New Testament shows us how to live and be reconciled to God through the Messiah.

Jesus saying that He came to fulfill the law didn't mean that we no longer follow it. The purpose of the Law is to point out our need for salvation - to point out to us that we all have sin. Sin is what separates us from God.

"Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ so that we may be justified by faith" Galatians 3:24

and for probably for the ten thousandth time... you have no understanding of The Truth of The True Christian Faith. As The Bible dose not have any thing in it for you and as you are not bound by any of the "laws" any way why are you so concerned... you clearly have a hatered for Christians like most who post the same old worn out postings as you do... you have not said one thing original and you know it.. do all of your kind just copy your posts from some standardized bash the Christian hand book... it is getting very tireing haveing all of you non "religious" indiviuals posting your hate of religion on a "religion" forum... whydo you all not just get on with your emty meaningless lives and just ignore what dose not in any way concern you...except for some reason you seem to have some need to feed your hatered... maybe you should visit the Psychology forums... do you secretly hate your father? is that why you hate God so?....

Christians as I learn to believed is the King David's people who learned to accept Jesus as the Savior. Jewish who accepted Jesus becomes the Jehovah's witness... and so on and so forth.

Roman Catholics on the other hand... believed that Jesus is the Son of God, no more, no less,.. who preaches and lived within the realms of God's Law, as true faith lies within the intellect of every individuals in their entities.

If Christians talk about that you must follow God's Law, why have the New Testament?

THE LAW we now follow is "" The Shima + love thy neighbor""
as was taught by Jesus!

The Old Levitical Laws are now null and void!

This way they get to pick which of God's silly Old testament laws to follow and which to say "Jesus says that no longer applies" to. That way they can condemn homosexuality and still eat shrimp and pork. Mighty convenient if you ask me.

Because the New Testament shows us that though we must follow Gods law, when we realize that we cannot follow it, then there must be a penalty for our sin and Christ took that penalty upon himself. He offers us a full pardon through the blood of Christ.

Mat 15:4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.

Mat 15:5 But ye say, Whosoever shall say to [his] father or [his] mother, [It is] a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;

Mat 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

Mat 22:38 This is the first and great commandment.

Mat 22:39 And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Mat 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

------------

Mar 7:9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.

Mar 7:10 For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:

Mar 7:11 But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, [It is] Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; [he shall be free].

Mar 7:12 And ye suffer him no more to do ought for his father or his mother;

Mar 7:13 Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.
------------

Rom 7:8 But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin [was] dead.

Rom 7:9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

Rom 7:10 And the commandment, which [was ordained] to life, I found [to be] unto death.

Rom 7:11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew [me].

Rom 7:12 Wherefore the law [is] holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

Rom 7:13 ¶ Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.
