Personally I like to keep away from new operating systems for at least 6-8 months to give time for bugs to be fixed. Even wait a year sometimes.

As with any first version of software, my advice is to hold off on buying Vista at this point. Don't forget, every version of Microsoft operating systems have had repair service packs that came after. Why be on the initial testing list with the potential for problems? Let the bugs get worked out first.

I am able to do everything I want with WinXP and see absolutely no reason to update to Vista. I probably won't until MS drops support for XP as it did for Win98.

I agree with what people have said. I would recommend waiting, and then when you are wanting to buy another computer I would suggest to buy one with windows vista.

NO because it will make your computer run slower than it does now, if you really want it wait until service pack 1 comes out before you buy it because it will be unstable and have many problems before it is released.

Vista is a resource hog so be sure your pc has more than enough juice to handle it.

Well, is it worth buying any of those if you can have practically all the functionality with Linux? (e.g. http://www.ubuntu.com/) Your call!
