I gave her one chicken wing bone and then took it away. she did manage to eat some of the marrow. I hope my vet doesn't get angry with me but I guess I can't wait until the morning to find out. Thanks for your time and help!

It's not a good idea to give any pet chicken bones. Cats and dogs have powerful jaws and will shatter the thin chicken bone and the shards can act just like glass in the esophagus, stomach and intestines.
Giving a bit of the cooked chicken is fine - just not any of the bones.

Cooked chicken bones are brittle and can splinter causing havoc in the digestive system including punctures. Raw chicken bones are more pliable. If she only ate a little piece she should be OK. Watch her for any discomfort in the next few days. Diarrhea, constipation, vomiting. Check with your vet in the morning and ask their opinion too.

Cooked chicken bones are very bad for a dog. However when feeding a "Raw Food " diet chicken wings & necks are aceptable. It is the cooking that causes the bones to splinter.

No, they can get stuck in the dog's throat. My dog took a chicken bone out of the garbage once and I didn't know. The next thing I knew she was on the floor clawing at her mouth, the bone was lodged sideways in there. I had to reach into her mouth and pull out this drool-covered slimy thing and it was really gross. I never put the bones in the garbage can on the floor again!

If the chicken wing is raw and the dog does not gulp and swallow big pieces then it is fine. A Chicken back is even better.
Cooked chicken bones are dangerous because they splinter.
Your dog should be okay even if it was cooked if you got it away and it ate only a little.

I used a raw diet for my three dogs for a few mos. and they did great on it but with three dogs it was too much for me to keep up with and balance out for them.

PLEASE Don't give you dog these bones....They have a habit of splintering and most dogs don't chew them up properly before swallowing. I know alot of people do this and the outcome is okay...But my uncle did this quite awhile back, but it was more than one wing bone....several leftover from an outdoor bbque.. The outcome.... he had to put his shepard to sleep....not sure of all the details but I know it was due to all the small bone shards in the dogs throat and or stomach. So from one pet lover to another.....just to be safe, avoid this practice. Thanks

We raise Miniature Schnauzers and they are given RAW Chicken once a week to clean their teeth. We use, legs, wings, necks anything as long as it is NOT cooked. Their teeth are spotless and their breath is fresh. We used to feed the Raw food diet completely, but it is hard to do. Never give them cooked bones though.

Raw bones are fantastic, and good for your dog's teeth, as long as you watch your dog and make sure it is chewing the bones, not just swallowing them.
Cooked bones will indeed splinter, and you should never, ever give them to your dog.

Never give your dog chicken bones cos they may splinter and cut the dog's internal organs.

Feeding raw chicken ( and bones ) is okay...and very common. Lots of people follow a whole foods diet for their pets....but cooked bones are hazardous. As others have said, they splinter and can puncture the dogs throat, stomach, or intestines.
